O Haiti...

Está respondendo, atualmente, pelos pecados do homem no mundo.
Meu coração dói ao assistir cenas de tamanha desolação. Minha mente questiona as razões de tanta desgraça. Incrível como um pedacinho de terra esquecido por tantos anos tornou-se a preocupação do planeta e seus habitantes neste momento. Não é à toa que a terra tremeu por lá. A impressão que eu tenho é que o que se encontra destruído em meio aos escombros já havia caído há muitos anos... Pouco improvável um país continuar erguido depois de sofrer com tanta miséria, isolamento, intolerância, discriminação, ignorância. Cegueira de uma nação inteira, cidadãos e governantes (ou quem acha que manda). Vítima de uma guerra civil suicida e desorganizada. O país é o produto do puro e grave descaso à vida humana. Como o Brasil, sofre desde a sua colonização. Deve mundos e fundos a todos, principalmente, à França e, o presidente Sarkozy, pretende, agora, coordenar a implantação da "organização". É assim. E muitas crianças não tem o que comer, nem beber, nem onde morrer, de fome ou de tremor de terra. Recebi um email, do Obama (nota: cadastrei-me em seu site ainda antes das eleições; transcrevo-o abaixo) para, também, ajudar na reconstrução do país. Em breve, postarei locais em Goiânia para quem quer ajudar (Goiás também está no "front" dando a sua contribuição assim como diversos estados brasileiros). Diante desta catástrofe, não importa de onde vem o auxílio para tanto desespero. Balbúrdia. Caos. Que chegue até lá tudo o que todos mandam. Pois, se refletirmos rápido, as pessoas que vivem, sentem, sofrem naquele lugar, desejam como nós. Daqui, temos que fazer a nossa parte: contribuindo com algum dinheiro, doando roupas, remédios, alimentos, etc. E rezando muito a Deus para Ele perdoar e ter muita misericórida dos seus filhos. Todos. Amém.

On Tuesday, a catastrophic earthquake struck near Port-au-Prince, Haiti. The full extent of the damage is still being assessed, but the death toll -- already in the thousands -- is climbing fast.
This is the worst earthquake to hit the area in more than 200 years. Entire communities have been ripped apart and as many as 3 million people have been directly affected, including tens of thousands of American citizens who are in Haiti.

Footage is pouring in of homes collapsing, Haitians carrying injured family members, and hospitals being overrun in what was already the poorest nation in the Western Hemisphere.
I have directed my administration to respond with a swift, coordinated, and aggressive effort to save lives. Personnel from the United States and our partners in the international community are on the ground in damaged areas right now, working side by side with the Haitian people. They're providing much-needed food, water, and sanitation supplies, saving lives and helping local communities start to rebuild.
Despite the fact that we are experiencing tough times here at home, I encourage those who can to reach out and help. It's in times like these that we must show the kind of compassion and humanity that has defined the best of our national character for generations.
